Sensory Connection

Sensory Connection is a project looking at how textiles could be used to provide multi-sensory stimulation for people with dementia. For Louisa’s final year dissertation she researched 'What is the future of Textile Design within multi-sensory stimulation for people with dementia?'. This research inspired her to consider how it could be used within her creative practice.
One of the main findings from this research was that familiarity can help to comfort people with dementia. The patterns and forms in this project are inspired by the shapes and colours of Lego and Meccano, shapes that people currently with dementia may have had in their childhood.
